The Dunkwa District Police Command has confirmed that 24-year-old Daniel Agyei, a trader in Dunkwa-On-Offin, who is in the grips of the Dunkwa Municipal Police as having stabbed his girlfriend, Vivian Akatsa, 25.
The incident happened at Kadawene, a suburb of Dunkwa-on-Offin on Saturday July 10, 2021.
In an interview with Solar FM’s News Reporter, Lawrence Gyasi Jnr, the Dunkwa District Police Commander, DSP Edmond Jones Afutu confirmed that on Monday, July 12, 2021, his outfit received information that the suspect Daniel Agyei had murdered his girlfriend, Vivian Akatsa, 25, which prompted him to deploy his men to the crime scene and found the lifeless body of Vivian Akatsa lying in supine position, in a pool of blood.
According to him, the body, which was in an advance stage of decomposition was immediately taken to the Dunkwa Government Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
D.S.P Afutu said the suspect met the deceased in town and on their way to the house, the suspect was receiving calls from ladies, which incurred the wrath of the deceased, who started to accuse the suspect of infedility.
He further said a misunderstanding ensued between the two but said the the suspect later apologized to the deceased and pleaded for forgiveness.
Continuing, the Police Chief said the deceased requested for sex and in the process of romance, the deceased bit his testicles so hard that he had to hold the deceased neck in equal measure to gain his freedom after he had sustained a deep cut to his testicles.
According to D.S.P Afutu, the suspect was then taken to the Dunkwa Government Hospital, where he regained consciousness and allegedly confessed to the Police that he had committed a crime and had tried to take his life by taking in a poisonous substance, believed to be weedicide.
The suspect is said to be in a critical condition but receiving treatment.
DSP Afutu advised the youth to be vigilant when choosing a life partner.
The deceased is a resident of Wasa Nananko in the Wasa Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region.
