Perseus Mining Ghana Limited (PMGLC) On Thursday,19th October 2023 organized a durbar to engage some communities in Upper Denkyira West.
The meeting is to pave the way for mining operations in Fabinso, Nkotumso, Brofoyedu, and Breman communities.
Speaking at the gathering of Chiefs, Elders, and people in the communities he said PMGLC has secured a Moratorium on buildings and planting of trees in the Nkosuo .
“The area on the attached plan, known as the “Nkosuo Pit and Hay Road Area” has been deciared a “Moratonum Area” The Minerals Commuassion has granted Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited Company (PMGLC) approval for a Mining Area at Nkosuo giving the company the right to control development in the declared area as per the Menerais and Mining Act (2006), Act 703,”he said
“The Moratorium Area comprises of 289.6 hectares and mcludes areas for the development of Nkosuo Pt and Haul Road and buffer required to ensure no one will be affected by mining mm the area. No one can live in this area.”he added
“PMGLC will pay compensation to eligible owners and lawful occupiers for crops, buildings, fishponds, anddeprivation of use in the Moratonum Area in accordance with the applicable regulation. Entitlements to resettlement, relocaton and cash compensation for crops and structures will be part of the Crop Compensation Negotabon Commatee and Resettiement Compensation Negotiation Committee processes.”
The Moratorium Area will also be demarcated clearly on the ground, with a boundary line and noticeboards.
