Mr. Apatsea Isaac Kwasi a former Constituency secretary of NDC, Upper Denkyira East has appealed to the NDC Hierarchy to protect MP’s at constituencies they won for the first time.
He said this after careful analysis of some seats the party won in the 2020 general elections.
In his appeal he mentioned 53 seats that changed hands between the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). While the NPP lost 36 of its seats in the 7th Parliament of the Fourth Republic, the NDC gave away 17 of its seats.
Mr. Apatsea Isaac Kwasi has has made a clear indication that NDC won the Upper Denkyira West seat for the first time since the constituency was created and that the NPP is likely to have a special eye there so the NDC Hierachy of the party must be ahead of such plans and put in good preparation to maintain the seat since the the margin was not so much.
He recounted issues that cropped up during the constituency executives election, but praised the NDC party leaders for finding amicable solution to it which left to a peaceful elections and eventually electing constituency executives.
He quoted the results for the last parliamentary elections between the NDC Lawyer Ohene Darko and Mr. Nsonwah Djan(Daniel Ohene Darko
NDC 18,446 50.7% —,SAMUEL NSOWAH-DJAN
NPP 17,925 49.3%) as close which may need extra work and that much money should not be sunk into the party parliamentary primaries but rather all resources must go into the 2024 election.
