The Ashanti region has in recent months been in the news for different reasons. Serial killings, armed robberies, murder, and many other criminal cases have been reported and it seems it is seeing no end soon. Even though the Ashanti Region Police Command has been trying to ensure law and order, there is always a criminal case in the Garden City.
Another one has been recorded and this time around, a pregnant woman is involved. The home of Betty and Maxwell at Nyankyerenease has been peaceful, their marriage hardly sees misunderstandings. They sometimes go out to have a good time together and none of them have exhibited signs of problems in the marriage. However, the landlady of the house they are renting, Ama Nyarko has lately detected irregular change of character among the two but she never took it seriously because there is trouble in every marriage.
In one of the evenings, the two had a misunderstanding and Maxwell could not manage his anger. He pulled a knife and stabbed his wife who was pregnant whilst her daughter was in the same room. The landlady who heard the noise quickly came out to verify what was happening. She then met Maxwell with stained hands and he was holding the night cloth of his wife at the same time. He used the nightgown of the wife to clean the blood that was on his hands and bolted from the scene by jumping the wall.
The lady was later confirmed dead at the hospital. The situation has come as a surprise to the landlady who does not understand why the husband would ever think of committing such a crime. Maxwell must avail himself to the police for the laws to deal with him accordingly. In the meantime, it is about time the country begins adopting strategies in ending abuses in marriages.
Couples must be taken through routine education on how to manage anger whenever they have issues in their homes.
These unfortunate killings of partners must end because it is affecting a lot of children. Some of the children who are affected by these cases end up with trauma whilst growing up and it can affect their psychological wellbeing.
